Put some pasta into one of the bags, add a few drops of food colouring and a teaspoon of vinegar, then shake well, making sure each piece of pasta has absorbed the desired colour. To make rainbow pasta all you need is a variety of different pastas, food colouring, ziplock bags, and vinegar. The boys also played with some rainbow pasta, which I had made earlier on in the week for a sensory bin. I had a few colourful craft feathers and animal cookie cutters that I thought the boys might like to experiment with as well. Another interesting idea is to give your kids some salt to add to the coloured blocks so they can see how salt lowers the freezing point of water, and therefore melts the ice quicker.
